4. RBI Governor:
• RBI has taken several measures to inject substantial liquidity. Priority is to undertake strong and purposeful action to protect domestic economy. Need for all stakeholders to fight against the pandemic and banks should do all they can to keep credit flowing. • India has locked down economic activity. Keeping finance flowing is the paramount objective of the RBI. India has locker down economic activity and financial activity is under severe stress. • Cash Reserve Ratio cut by 100 bps to 3% Reverse Repo Rate cut by 90 bps to 4% Liquidity Adjustment Facility (LAF) cut by 90 bps to 4% Implied GDP growth of 4.4% in H2 is now at risk CRR cut to release Rs 1.37 lakh crore into the market • All banks, lending institutions may allow a three-month moratorium on all loans. • Lending companies, banks are allowed to defer interest on working capital repayments by three months. • Banks may also reassess working capital cycle and will not be treated as non-performing assets (NPAs). • A three month moratorium is announced on payment of installments of loans outstanding on March 1, 2020.
